Asian American Towns in Texas
There are many Asian American Towns in Texas. Houston has one of the biggest Chinatown's in Texas. Even though it is known as Chinatown Houston, there is a growing number of Vietnamese American restaurants and stores in the same area on Bellaire Blvd. A visitor can see the mixing of Chinese and Vietnamese businesses in the same shopping plaza. On the other hand, a visitor can also see the division between old Chinatown and new Chinatown in Houston.
There are two major Chinatowns in the north Texas area: Chinatown Richardson and Chinatown Plano. Chinatown Richardson was established before Chinatown Plano.
Also, there are two major Koreatowns in Dallas County: Koreatown Dallas and Koreatown Carrollton. Koreatown Dallas is the original and oldest. The date when it was established is unknown [need to conduct more research]. Koreatown Carrollton is new, and it was established almost 10 years ago. Visiting Koreatown Carrollton is like visiting South Korea but in a less crowded area. A visitor can find various Korean restaurants, gigantic Hmart (grocery store), bakeries, cafes, etc. Koreatown Dallas is a little more spread out but includes more Korean restaurants.
Little Saigon in Garland, TX has grown exponentially over the past 15 years, and it shares some of the shopping centers and plazas with the Hispanic/Latin American businesses. A visitor can purchase a delicious banh mi (Vietnamese sandwich) from one place and go next door and purchase a homemade horchata (Mexican rice milk drink) from a second place.
