Audience:
For my project, I plan to reach out to a diverse audience of individuals, scholars, and community organizations for my project. For the individuals, I am seeking adults between the ages of 18 and 29. For the scholars, I am seeking undergraduate, graduates, and post graduates. For the organizations, I am seeking specific Asian American community organizations in major cities, especially in the South.
Platforms:
In order to reach my target audiences, I plan to use Pinterest and Twitter. With Pinterest, I can spark their interest by having the audience view my Inspiration board. With Twitter, I can reach out to an audience quicker with brief messages. Also, I can add images and videos that may also spark their interest and hopefully lead the audience to my project site.
Messages:
The message that will appeal to the audience is the importance of recording and preserving the history of Asian Americans, particularly of the South. I want to convey that American history needs to include more information about Asian Americans. I want the audience to start giving it a significant presence in American history by adding their voice.
By Summer 2017, I will begin to reach out to my audience via Twitter and/or Pinterest. I want to gain at least 100 followers. From the 100 followers, at least 50 followers will visit my project site. Within 6 months, more than 150 people would have visited my project site. In Fall 2018, the followers for my social media platforms will increase from 150 to 300 followers; and more than 100 followers would have contributed to my project. By this time, I also want to begin working with the Dallas Historical Society to record the history of Asian Americans in the Dallas, Texas area.
